Errol Spence Jr. will defend the WBC and IBF welterweight championships against challenger Danny Garcia on December 5 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
This will be Spence's first fight since he was hospitalized following an October 2019 car crash. Spence was charged with driving while intoxicated and suffered serious cuts during the crash, but no broken bones. Two weeks earlier, Spence had handily defeated Shawn Porter to improve his undefeated record to 26-0.
Garcia and Spence originally planned to fight in January 2020, but Spence's crash left the fight postponed. In the interim, Garcia won a unanimous decision over Ivan Redkach, a Ukrainian competitor who fights in a southpaw stance like Spence. Garcia will enter Saturday's fight with a record of 36-2.
