The flip flops create a lot of issues with a lot of theories for me. Firstly, most estimates say Rey would’ve had to run 12 mph to land where the hole is. He’s a pretty fit guy, so I figure he could normally do that. But in those flip flops, without either of them falling off until he goes over? 12 mph is a pretty fast run, and I just don’t think that’s a speed you reach in those.
My other issue is that he wore flip flops in the Belvedere? It seems like a pretty fancy place, not the kind of place where you wear flip flops to. And on top of this, he parked a distance from the hotel rather than at their garage, so wouldn’t it be worth it to put on some proper footwear if you’re planning on walking to the Belvedere from the parking spot? This screams to me that he had no intention of going to the hotel. There’s a 4 hour gap between his parking and the jump with no other ideas on where he’d been, so I’m guessing he met somebody somewhere else. Whatever happened at that meeting, it brought him either to the parking garage or the Belvedere without his prior planning to be there.
